The Limpopo Department of Agriculture (LDA) received Gold Award in the prestigious Limpopo Provincial Premier’s Excellence Awards hosted at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane on March 08, 2012. Teams from various departments competed in the categories of Best Service Delivery Team, Best Innovation Team and Best Support Team.



Departments themselves competed in the Best Department category in which the LDA was awarded the Gold Award. The LDA came second after the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs which received the Platinum Award.
Limpopo MEC for Agriculture expresses happiness about the achievement. She says achieving such an honour does come easily and requires hard work. She compliments both the LDA staff and farmers for the achievement.

“We are excited about the award. We dedicate the award to the people of the province who produce food on our behalf under difficult conditions. Achieving the same will be a challenge as the road ahead will not be easy due to the global economic situation and the intensifying climatic change challenges.

“We need to double our efforts in order to realise the objectives of our mandate of food security. To the staff of our department, we appreciate your hard work and commitment. Keep the good work you are doing,” remarks the MEC.
