Mr Mortimer Mannya Appointed New LDA HOD PDF Print E-mail


Mr Kgadima Cullingworth Mortimer Mannya has been appointed new Limpopo Department of Agriculture (LDA) Head of Department (HOD) as from this month (July). He takes over from his predecessor Professor Edward Nesamvuni who left the LDA in April this year for the University of Limpopo.
Mr Mannya received Master of Science Degree from Cranfield Institute of Technology, United Kingdom,  He obtained his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Science Honours Degrees from the then University of the North (now University of Limpopo). The new HOD is a soil scientist. Mannya possesses postgraduate certificates in Project Management and Management Advanced Programme from University of Bradford, United Kingdom and University of Witwatersrand, South Africa respectively. 



He has vast agricultural experience in agriculture as he served the Limpopo Department of Education as Principal of Tompi Seleka Agricultural College and has been Soil Science Lecturer at the University of Limpopo (formerly University of the North).  Mannya worked as a Professional Scientist for the former Lebowa Homeland’s Department of Agriculture. 

 Since 1995 to date before appointed as the HOD, he has served as Chief Director within the LDA managing technical branches including; Sustainable Resource Management, Technical Production Services, District Extension Services and Agricultural Technical Services. He also served as Director for Agricultural Research Services. Mannya has been acting LDA HOD from April this year until his appointment.

Limpopo MEC for Agriculture, Mr Jacob Marule hopes his appointment will contribute towards better service to farmers.
 
“The department has made a decision to appoint the Head of Department. With his 17 years of experience in the department, he will continue to work with his Senior Management and staff as a team to deliver the mandate of the department and to offer support to our farmers,” remarks the MEC.
